GPUs
GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) are specialized hardware components designed to perform complex mathematical calculations in parallel. They were originally developed for rendering graphics in video games and other visual applications, but have since found widespread use in the field of data science and artificial intelligence. GPUs are particularly well-suited for deep learning, a subset of machine learning that involves training artificial neural networks on large datasets. This is because deep learning algorithms require a large number of matrix operations, which can be performed much more quickly on a GPU than on a traditional CPU. In addition to deep learning, GPUs are also used for tasks such as data visualization, scientific simulations, and cryptocurrency mining.
