Survival Analysis
Survival analysis is a statistical method used to analyze and model the time until an event of interest occurs. It is commonly used in medical research, engineering, and social sciences to study the time until a specific event occurs, such as death, failure of a machine, or job termination. Survival analysis takes into account censoring, which occurs when the event of interest has not occurred for some subjects at the end of the study period. The analysis estimates the survival function, which is the probability of surviving past a certain time point, and the hazard function, which is the instantaneous rate of failure at a given time point. The Cox proportional hazards model is a commonly used method in survival analysis that allows for the examination of the effect of multiple covariates on the survival time.
