802.11 Standards

802.11 is a set of standards for wireless local area networks (WLANs) developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). These standards specify the technologies for wireless communication in the 2.4, 3.6, 5, and 60 GHz frequency bands. The most commonly used standards are 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, and 802.11ax. These standards define the data transfer rates, modulation schemes, channel bandwidths, and other parameters that are used in wireless communication. The 802.11 standards also specify the security protocols that are used to protect wireless networks from unauthorized access.
